RisingJoy Secures Strategic Investment from Double Vision

RisingJoy has entered into a strategic alliance with Malaysian production house Double Vision, marking a significant step in the company's evolution from micro-drama distributor to full-service micro-entertainment studio.

The partnership, announced at Singapore's Asia TV Forum and Market, includes a minority investment by Double Vision in RisingJoy and the upcoming launch of RJOY, a curated co-branded micro-drama streaming platform.

What the partnership brings

Double Vision, a member of the Vision New Media group, brings four decades of experience creating drama programming for Malaysian and broader Asian audiences, with credits including localized versions of formats The Bridge and Liar. Under the agreement, Double Vision will serve as RisingJoy's inaugural official production partner for micro-drama formats.

Beyond creative collaboration, Double Vision's production services arm will provide support for RisingJoy's global expansion — offering capabilities ranging from music licensing and format documentation to adaptation services and on-the-ground production in strategic territories. The company has multiple large-scale international productions scheduled to commence in 2026.

RisingJoy, founded by Cassandra Yang and Ricky Ow, manages a library exceeding 500 hours of short-form content across four languages — Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and English. Its distribution network spans more than two dozen territories across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and South America.

What they said

"I have long admired the work that Cassandra and Ricky have been doing in the micro-drama space, building this new stream of the industry with quality content and successfully taking it out into the world," said Min Lim, CEO of Double Vision. "It is therefore truly exciting to invest in and partner with RisingJoy at such a pivotal time."

Lim added that Double Vision's production infrastructure and service offerings "will help supercharge this business and push it further on its impressive growth trajectory."

Cassandra Yang, Co-Founder and CEO of RisingJoy, framed the moment in the context of the format's evolution: "Micro-drama was once seen as a Chinese curio. It is now on the cusp of becoming a truly global phenomenon, and this new strategic partnership leaves us well placed to capitalise."

"Double Vision's financial investment, its experience in drama production and of doing business in the international arena, will play an important part in helping RisingJoy to the next level and meeting our global ambitions," Yang said.

The bigger picture

Since its 2021 launch, RisingJoy has pursued a business model centered on collaborating with established regional operators to create co-branded micro-drama services, leveraging its content curation capabilities alongside partners' existing infrastructure and audience reach. The Double Vision partnership represents the most significant validation of that model to date.

The deal also follows Double Vision's recent announcement of a co-production agreement with ABS-CBN and Astro Shaw to develop three drama series, including a reboot of the International Emmy-nominated A Time for Us — underscoring the production house's ambition to expand its footprint across formats and markets.
